WE OFFER A STAY-AT-HOME ALTERNATIVE TO BOARDING YOUR PETS

Who We Are

Anne Scherer – Co-Owner Anne has had a variety of pets all her life and is a strong supporter of Southern Indiana Animal Rescue, Floyd County Rescue and the Animal Protection Association.  Anne has a long history of volunteer work with Greater Clark Schools and has a passion for kids and animals.  She has three rescue dogs, Harley, Oreo, Roxy (adopted from SIAR) and a rescued cat named Miss Pickles (adopted from the APA).  Roxy is a Canine Good Citizen Certified Therapy dog and enjoys accompaning Anne to various facilities around the area to visit residents. Anne saw a need for an alternative to boarding, feeling pets would be much happier staying in the comfort of their own home, in their own yard, on their own bed and with their own toys, so she turned her passion into a business with her bestie, Laura!

Laura Zeles – Co-Owner Laura has a vast amount of experience with a variety of pets.  She is currently “mom” to five dogs, five cats, a guinea pig, two water turtles and Misty, the Red Footed Tortoise, who is the official mascot of the company.  Misty makes an appearance at most of our adoption fairs and events and is always a huge hit!  Three of Laura’s canines are Red Cross Certified Therapy Dogs and do volunteer work a various hospitals, nursing homes & rehab facilities in the surrounding area.  She is also certified in Canine CPR and first aid. Laura saw the benefit of in-home pet care for people with multiple animals because the price to board so many could be astronomical – or not even available.  She and Anne brainstormed the idea, and Annie Lou’s Pet Sitting Service was born!

Terri StephensTeam member Terri is a volunteer for a local animal rescue group and shares her life with her hubby, five kiddos and seven dogs, five cats, two ferrets and multiple foster kittens. She loves caring for all kinds of animals and getting to know their unique types of personalities. We are blessed to have her as a part of the Annie Lou’s team!

Sarah Green – Team Member Sarah has worked in the animal welfare field for over 25 years, both in Municipal and non-profit organizations.  She graduated from the University of Florida with an MS in Shelter Medicine.  Sarah enjoys all areas of animal welfare, but her passion is in affordable, high quality, high volume, spay/neuter services and she recently opened Kentuckiana Veterinary Outreach in Sellersburg.  Sara loves all animals but has a special place in her heart for her own four dogs and seven cats.  Sarah feels honored to be part of the Annie Lou’s Team, but we think we’re the lucky ones to have her!

Amanda Johnson – Team Member Amanda has had a variety of different breeds of dogs all of her life. She currently has a pit bull, a pointer mix and a senior dachshund. She also recently adopted chickens! Amanda has three teenagers she taxis around from activity to activity, and works part-time at a local pre-school. She is so excited to a member of our team and loves the stress relief of caring for your fur babies!

Olivia Stephens – Team member Olivia has grown up with a pet loving family!  She currently resides with 6 dogs, 14 cats and 2 ferrets!  Olivia has years of experience helping her family with the fostering of many kittens who have lost their mothers.  She nurses the babies to a healthy weight and age where they can be adopted into their furever homes.  Olivia has a deep adoration for all animals and has been an exceptional addition to the Annie Lou’s Crew.  She looks forward to showering you fur babies with loads of TLC!

Ellen Byrd – Team member Ellen lives in New Albany with her husband and children, along with 5 dogs, 3 cats, 2 Guinea pigs and 14 chickens.  She has a passionate love for animals!  Ellen’s nickname growing up was “Ellie Mae Clampet”, because strays were constantly following her home.  Ellen has worked at the New Albany Animal Shelter for almost 2 tears where she has developed a special place in her heart for the lost, neglected, and abused.  She also works as a dog trainer assisting owners to build a better relationship with their pets.  Ellen’s goal is to bring her clients peace of mind during stressful travel time.  We feel our pets are family and deserve to be treated as such!

Kaitlynn Zeles – Team Member Kaitlynn has grown up with a houseful of animals all her life, and loves it!  She has loads of experience with her family’s pets and has recently become mom to her own fur baby, Pebbles.  Kaitlynn can be found working the aisles at a local paint store fulltime but is a huge help to the Annie Lou’s Team during our peak busy seasons.

Jimmy Stephens – Team member Jimmy has always had a strong love of animals.  Whether they be domesticated pets, wild animals, or bugs!  Jim has a desire to learn as much as he can about all and loves working for Annie Lou’s Pet Sitting.  Jimmy has grown up in a house full of animals – sometimes the numbers have been in the 20’s!  He has extensive experience in fostering and especially enjoys caring for kittens in need but also has a special place in his heart for senior animals.  He loves giving them a comfortable home to live out their elder years.  Jim has been such a wonderful addition to our team and we absolutely adore him!

Jill Farney – Team member Jill is a hardworking, semi-retired, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother!  We are so lucky that she doesn’t like to sit still because she does an amazing job for Annie Lou’s Pet Sitting!  She loves all animals and is a perfect fit to our team.  Jill has had a variety of pets all her life and currently resides with her cat Ellie and husband Craig.

Alex Bellew – Team member Alex is a lifelong resident of Southern Indiana.  She is a fulltime elementary school teacher but loves caring for animals and helping out with Annie Lous’s during her school breaks when we are at peak season.  Alex has a cat, Zuko and a new Bernese Mountain dog, Rover, who she adores.  Alex has always had a special place in her heart for animals.

Audrey Elliott – Team member Audrey recently graduated college with her biology degree. She has loved animals her whole life and caring for them is her passion. Audrey splits her time between Clark County Humane Association and Annie Lou’s Pet Sitting Service. Audrey has been a long term employee of Annie Lou’s while juggling school, but now she’s back permanently in Southern Indiana with her pooch, Paris. We missed her while she was gone and she is excited to see her old furry friends and meet all the new ones!

Sandra Stein – Sandra is a retired accountant who stayed retired for about 20 minutes!  With a love for all animals Annie Lou’s is the perfect fit for her and we’re so fortunate to have her on the team.  Sandra currently has a rescued German Shepherd named Frannie and a rescued, domestic short haired cat named Wyatt.  (Wyatt decided to opt out of the photo shoot! Since a young girl Sandra has had mice, gerbils, rabbits, turtles, birds, guinea pigs and of course always at least one dog and a cat.  She is looking forward to loving on your pet – whatever it may be!

Trista Dean – Team Member Trista has always had a love for animals and grew up with them running through her house!  Trista currently has a chihuahua, Lily, and a black cat, Salem.  She is a student at Hanover University majoring in International Studies and History with a minor in Spanish.  She hopes to take her education and passion for animals into a future career.  Trista has been a great addition to the Annie Lou’s Crew and she’s excited to meet your fur babies!

Belinda Conn – Team Member Belinda has a strong passion for community outreach.  She’s a volunteer with the Center for Lay Ministries, Community Kitchen, Shepherd’s Kitchen and GRRAND, a golden retriever rescue and adoption agency for needy dogs.  Belinda adopted her golden mix, Rocky, from GRRAND several years ago. We are so grateful she has such a passion for animals and has chosen to be part of our amazing team!

Kate Leinster– Team member Kate has always had a passion and love for all animals. She has been volunteering with animal rescue groups since she was a teenager and currently works for a local animal nonprofit organization. Kate enjoys volunteering at her local animal shelter and has three rescue cats, Eli, Zoey and Iris and her dog, Pete.

Janeen Niehaus – Team Member Janeen has always lived in Southern Indiana and has a long history with all kinds of dogs – mixed breeds and pure breeds, big and small.  Janeen lived out in the country for 20 years and was a constant collector of strays. She would nurse them back to health and it was her mission to find them new homes.  She loves all pets, but has a special place in her heart for her Havanese pup, Poppi, who she shares a birthday with.  Janeen has a heart of gold and goes above and beyond for the Annie Lou’s Team.
